Previous Post: In the previous post we learned how to quickly navigate the Bible. Knowing how to do that first will save us a lot of time. Once we can find the New Testament, here are some tips for finding some groupings of books in the New Testament (NT). Quickly finding the Gospels First, keep saying 'Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John' in that order. They are the 4 Gospels witnessing to the life of Jesus, so they are worth memorizing in order. Doing that will also help the previous tip of finding the New Testament because if you can locate any 1 of the 4 Gospels, and you know the order, you can get to any of the 4 books quickly. Finding Acts of the Apostles Next is 'Acts of the Apostles'. It is unique in that it bridges the time between the Gospels to the NT letters by covering 30-35 years of the early Church. Acts is closely connected to the Gospels as it was believed to be written in one continuous work with the Gospel of Luke and picks up right after Jesus' Resurrection. Acts also provides a good transition to Paul's letters as the middle and end of Acts follows Saul's/Paul's conversion and missionary journeys. Finding Paul's Letters After Acts is Paul's letters.... 13 of them to specific churches he founded (Romans-Thessalonians) and people he wrote to (Timothy-Philemon) + Hebrews. Finding the other 7 Apostolic Letters After Paul's letters and before Revelation is a collection of 7 other letters attributed to other Apostles (James, Peter, John, and Jude) and/or their disciples... These are smaller books so sometimes I will find Revelation first and look backward, or if I find Paul's letters I know they are coming next. Finding Revelation Revelation is the last book of the Bible, written by the Apostle John. Practice looking up books whenever you hear their names and you will get faster at finding them!
