RSV2CE
Revised Standard Edition – 2nd Edition
This is my go-to Bible right now… Solid, dependable, easy to read, and it is the Bible I use most often at my church’s weekly Bible study. This review was done with the Large Print version., but I provide several options below.
- The dark blue cover is the LARGE print version.
- The red cover is the normal text size version.
Version and Pricing Options
(Large Print 7″ x 10″) – Dark Blue
(Regular Print 6″ x 9″) – Red
For Personal use and Bible studies: yes
Liturgical Use: in approved countries.
Print Size:
Dark Blue (Large Print 14 Point)
Red (Normal Print 9 Point)
If you need reading glasses or share your Bible with anyone that does, the Large Print version is helpful. The larger print is also helpful if you ever pass your Bible around for others to read which I sometimes do.
Gilded Gold Edged Pages: (In the Dark Blue, Large Print, Leather Version)
(The Red version does not have Gold edged pages)
This Bible is nice enough to be the family Bible, but not so fancy that it is just an eyepiece on the shelf. This Bible is designed to be used.
Maps Included:
Yes (The Dark Blue Large Print Version has 16 color maps)
Ye (The Red Version has 9 maps)
I always recommend people to have a Bible Atlas or Bible Maps nearby when reading the Bible as it can help give more meaning to the text if you know where the places are located. These Bibles have maps included in the back so you don’t have to worry about forgetting them at home.
Note: The maps are so seamlessly built-in that I didn’t notice they were there until this article, so I am thrilled!
Deuterocanonicals included: Yes
Chapter & Section Summary Headings: Yes
Helps you find some passages easier
Commentary: Not in the Large Print version.
Footnotes: A few. In the Large Print version, The large print takes up most of the space, so other extras like this are limited.

Summary
This is just a solid well built Bible. If you need large print this has it. The construction is well made with a durable cover (If you get the Leather). The built in maps are helpful for looking up key events when you need to. Good for both Bible study and home use.
It is hard to find a negative with this Bible except to say one Bible doesn’t fit everyone in every situation. (It is definitely ok to have more than one Bible). At 5 lbs, the Large Print version is probably not for traveling light but good for reading.
